The benefits of workforce management tools for vaccination campaigns

2021-08-25

We know that managing manpower, schedules and absences is a heavy burden for managers, and indeed for employees. In the current pandemic context, our goal is to reduce, if not eliminate, this workload so that employees can focus on their work in the field to ensure the success of the vaccination campaign and make workplaces safer.

Merinio's contribution to a vaccination campaign

Given the workload involved in vaccinating the population on a large scale, health care teams cannot risk being understaffed and facing unforeseen events that could slow down their work. Our goal is to avoid as many stressful situations related to workforce management as possible. Here's what we can provide:

1. The certainty of having the number of employees corresponding to the traffic rate in order to ensure an optimal vaccination coverage;
2. Reducing management time related to scheduling so that you can focus on coordinating the campaign;
3. Ensuring peace of mind for healthcare staff;
4. Smoothing communication between managers and employees regarding availability, absences and leaves;
5. The ability to anticipate and react quickly to unforeseen events;
6. Transparency and reliability of payroll for all.

Use of Merinio by Biron Health Group

Since May 2021, 168 employees of Biron Health Group have been using the Merinio application to optimize the dispatching of workers in its vaccination centers in Quebec, including the Montreal airport. The daily use of this tool has allowed managers to save manpower management time, and thus use this time to efficiently conduct vaccination campaigns.

The employees use the Merinio application, available on their smartphones, to consult their schedule at any time. They find the precise location of their work site and receive a confirmation of their schedule via SMS or via a notification directly on the application, depending on what they prefer. The creation of the schedule is simplified for managers since the platform is configured according to their own database to avoid errors. For example, an employee who has not received the required training for a shift will not be assigned to it.

Communication is also a key advantage for Biron Health Group since their employees can communicate their availability and absences to their manager in one click via the app. Managers, on their side, receive in real time the availability or absence request and choose to approve it or not, which sends a notification to the employee. This two-way communication system ensures that information is transmitted clearly, quickly and in a centralized way. The communication system within the platform also allows managers to post messages that need to be transmitted to the entire team on a bulletin board.

The Merinio team is proud to support healthcare professionals during this particular time, and we continue to improve our platform every day to make life easier for workers and managers.
